My creamy mushroom beef recipe

I promised my good friend I’ll share my favourite recipe with her and since it’s been a while I posted something food related, I’ve decided to share it in the format of photo blog.

I hope you will like it Mia 😎

This is how I do my creamy mushroom beef.

What do we need?

  • Obviously beef, I tend to buy some cheap steaks, that I cut into strips (I ocassionally do steaks as whole, but I found that the meat gets nicer when it’s done in small pieces, it absorbs more juice / cream)
  • Onion(s)
  • Mushrooms (I usually buy brown chestnut mushrooms and cut them into relatively large pieces)
  • Here I’m also using dried forest mushrooms
  • Double cream (250 ml)
  • Now this might be tricky, I use gravy granules to thicken the sauce as I desire, I suppose you could use flour or perhaps what would work good is if you mashed some overboiled carrots and blend them into mash and add. Personally I’m not a huge fan of thickening with flour. I use either potatoes (I mean blended) or some root vegetables of which I found carrots most pleasant in sweet taste that doesn’t disturb stronger beef and mushroom and peppercorn flavour).
  • I also use mix of frozen vegetables, mix of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots, simply because it adds volume and I think it tastes nice and it’s one of the few ways how I’d eat vegetables lol

As a side I have rice and as all my friends surely know, french fries (I make these in the oven, there’s a good brand that turns out just right, I think they pre-fry them or something, not sure).
But for normal people rice should be enough.

I didn’t provide weights for ingredients as I’m sure any half decent cook can work out the portions of each ingredients.

And today I also treated myself to flowers because as I was shopping for meat saw them in clearance, including the vase. Why not 🌷😎
